Mary Mary's Cafe sits comfortably in Spanaway as a straightforward spot where the focus is on solid, traditional breakfast and classic cafe fare. This isn’t a place for fancy coffee blends or trend-forward brunch plates, but rather a reliable neighborhood joint where locals linger over hearty morning meals and steady, refilling coffee cups.

The atmosphere at Mary Mary’s leans toward casual and bustling, especially on weekend mornings when groups and families crowd the booths near the windows. The staff plays a big role in the experience, often remembered for their friendly, attentive service and readiness to accommodate substitutions—something appreciated by regulars. It tends to attract a mixed crowd: from early risers grabbing a quick bite before work or events, to families and longtime patrons who value the familiarity and portion sizes offered here.

Breakfast options showcase classic American diner-style choices with an emphasis on generous plates of eggs with various accompaniments like hashbrowns, biscuits and gravy, and chicken fried steak. Some standout selections that get consistent praise include their pancakes—especially those served with fresh strawberries and cream—and savory omelets loaded with plenty of veggies and meats. The cafe also covers well in the comfort food department with items like the hamburger steak and fresh-cut fries if you’re stopping by later in the day.

An important detail for locals is the coffee, which is consistently served hot and steaming from the moment you sit down, with servers quick to keep refills coming. This steady coffee flow matches the unpretentious and warm vibe of the cafe, making it a comfortable spot to settle into for a chat or to recharge before a busy day.

Mary Mary’s may not win points for speedy service at peak times, but the trade-off is usually a relaxed pace and a chance to enjoy generous portions without feeling rushed. If you’re visiting Spanaway and want a solid breakfast with the kind of down-to-earth service that comes with local regularity, this cafe fills that role well. The best time to visit tends to be early morning on weekdays or just after the morning rush on weekends, when the place is active but not overwhelming.

Overall, this cafe fits those looking for comfort food classics, familiar flavors, and a no-fuss setting where the priority is on food that feels like a morning staple rather than a culinary event.

We went in for breakfast one early fall day and ordered chicken fried steak with hash browns and the breakfast croissant. The waitress was very nice and made sure our coffee cups were always full. Pretty decent food and prices.

The food was good, although the service was a little slow. It may be due to high load at the time. We ordered omelettes, pancakes and biscuits with gravy (vegetarian). They were all good. The pancakes with strawberries and cream stood out!

My boyfriend and I came here around 9:20am as we were waiting for an event nearby that started at 10am. As we entered, it was super packed and there was a large party waiting to be seated. Luckily, the waitresses noticed us and told us that a party of two could be seated right away. We were seated at a booth near a window which was cute and intimate. We were offered coffee right away and it's wonderful that the servers here are always wandering around at coffee at the right times to refill as my boyfriend never had an empty or cold cup of coffee. When we were ordering, we were told that they were backed up on orders but we didn't mind since we had time. I got the SOS full order with a side of grits with my boyfriend got the Mary Mary's breakfast bite. The grits were a good size but it wasn't really worth getting. I feel like they should add cheese on top for the price too. The gravy was great with my breakfast plate and my boyfriend enjoyed his breakfast bite. We'll come back once we try some of the other spots around as there are quite a bit a few diners in the Spanaway area to which one is our favorite but so far this is not a bad spot for those who enjoy American breakfast, lunch or dinner. The service here is definitely friendly no matter who comes by. They greet you with such kindness and bid you farewell with the same amount. They are also pretty good about checking in at the right times. The interior here feels very classical retro American diner. The bathroom here was clean and well-maintained.

I've been hooked on this place since my brother introduced me to it. He goes in a few times a week. It's that good. The waitresses get to know you and even remember what you usually order! Always super friendly staff. Some of my favorites are their patty melt, mushroom burger, chili burger, and ham & eggs breakfast. Their waffles are awesome too, as well as their pancakes. Some cooks aren't that good at cooking eggs the way you want them but they're still tasty. Sides prices are higher than most places. They close early afternoon, but you can anything on the menu as early as you like. Only thing I've never liked here is their fish & chips, fish is always cooked way too long and is too crunchy. I'm not a fan of folded omelets, so I rarely order them here, but when I do, the taco omelet is my favorite. My brother loves their chicken fried steak! And they will actually deep fry your home fries if you ask! Yep, drove by this place for years before I stopped in! Weekends get packed in the morning and parking can be tricky. Trust me, eat here ONCE and you WILL be back!

This is my go to for breakfast. The main reasons are wonderful service, very generous portions and a willingness to substitute. My favorite is anything accompanied by their excellent home fried potatoes. They are actually fried not deep fried like most places. A little out of the way but it's worth it to me.

Debbie was wonderful. She was very sweet and on top of things. The chicken fried steak was nice and hot. Thank you, Kathy from Arkansas, for the recommendation.

Food was good. Servers were very active and helpful, my coffee never even had the chance to get cold before they’d pour me a little more. Real polite, hardworking folks. Only thing that bummed me out is that everyone seemed to busy to really converse and that’s something I tend to enjoy about small town restaurants. Otherwise, I had a good time. Not complaints here.

This is a friendly local cafe. It has the usual cafe breakfast fare. The home fries had no flavor, no spice and no onions or peppers. The eggs were well cooked, and the biscuits were flaky and soft. The one specialty is waffles. The batter is sweetened, and they applied a million pecans.
